GM340 VHF: Why it was kept in the fleet for twenty years

GM340 is the middle of the Professional Series analog line: six channels, LED display, four programmable buttons. The station was removed from production, but in the river fleet, on quarries and in convoys it is still running - because there is almost nothing to break in it, and any radiomaster does repairs.

Why VHF and not UHF?

The range of 136-174 MHz is taken where the connection goes through open areas: river, field, quarry, forest plot. The wave is longer, the relief is better, and at the same power of 25 W you get a larger radius than at UHF. In urban areas and inside buildings, the picture is reversed – there wins. GM340 UHF 403–470 MHz.

What is different from neighbors in the lineup

From GM360 The GM340 has 6 channels and LED-indication: the GM360 has 255 channels and an alphanumeric display of 14 characters. Private Line and 5-ton selective signaling are specified by the manufacturer for both models; specific features depend on programming and network setting.

What to look for when buying an ex at work

Three things: the state of the connector of the antenna (the backlash in the socket is the main reason “became worse to take”), the integrity of the hand microphone and the presence of a power supply cable with fuse holders.
