GP340: Handheld, which is still worn
Handheld Professional Series: 16 channels, 5 W, range 136–174 MHz, protection IP54battery HNN9009. It comes with a charger and battery. Like the whole series, it is discontinued, but remains in operation at facilities where predictability is not important, but novelty.
Why is it slow to change?
The thick body experiences falls from a height of growth, the controls work in gloves, and repairs do not require special tools. Five watts on the handheld is a practical maximum: more plants the battery, less does not break through the building.
The battery is the main consumable
The nickel-metal hydride HNN9009 loses capacity over time, and the usual complaint is that it is almost always a battery, not a station. Before buying a former employee, ask the date of release of the battery and the status of contacts. The spare battery and the second charger on the shift solve the problem for a long time.
Couple to ride
GP340 is usually used in the same system. GM340 or GM160One band, one channel, different roles: machine and man. It is important that the range coincides: VHF-handheld will not hear UHF-vehicle-mounted.
What's being replaced today
When switching to handheld, part of the fleet is changed to MOTOTRBO, vehicle-mounted to MOTOTRBO. DM2600 or DM4401. Until the transition is complete, the analogue mode of the digital stations allows the GP340 to remain in service.
Station pickup
Here everything is decided by the station model: connectors, mounts and landing dimensions in the series are different, and the detail from the neighboring series will not stand up.
